Obama on Jay Leno
On March 19, President of the United States, Barack Obama was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Barack’s attempt at humor created calls for apoligies after he compaired his bowling skills to those of Special Olympics competetors. Today, March 20, Obama called the Special Olympics Chairman Tim Shriver and apoligized for his gaff.
As a person with a disability, I find that the President’s remarks and attempt at humor was uncalled for. He is the president of the United States, a person who is supposed to represent his constituents regardless of race, religion, disability, ethnic background, and sexual orientation just to name a few. What surprises me most is how the news media has swept this incident under the rug and called it just a small attempt at humor. I however feel that this incident was otherwise a mere attack on people with disabilities. This ”unscripted” comment is very degrading to those who have overcome the odds and have risen to the top, like Obama.
I however believe that we need to look past this incident, our country’s financial system is in shambles. We have the president going on a comedy tour/campaign tour like he’s running for president all over again (like all politicians, their single goal is to get reelected). We need to have some accountability in Washington DC. Right now we have a runaway Congress that is out of touch with society. Do you know that last week the Federal Reserve printed $1 trillion? That $1 trillion that was made overnight, soon after this money was printed the price of gold, crude oil, silver and other commodities shot up in price. To shield his news from being reported by the main stream media, Congress initialized an uproar about the AIG bonuses. While everyone was talking about the bonuses that the AIG executives were receiving and how to recover these bonuses, the Fed was printing money. So you may ask me why am I really concerned about is money being printed? I am very concerned that our nation is self-destructing from within. When you print more money to pump into the system the Fed has to borrow money from other countries. The country that the Federal Reserve likes to go to a lot is China. China owns a lot of US debt. But recently, a lot of European and Asian countries are not considering dollar as stable currency. Which makes it harder for the Federal Reserve to back up the sale of our debt to other countries, which translates into higher interest rates.
Finally I will mention that the people in Washington DC helped AIG, and Fannie Mae get into this problem. We have politicians that are oversight committees that receive campaign contributions from these organizations. I do not see one of them standing up and giving back those contributions. And these politicians are now asking families to give back bonuses that they were scheduled to receive and if they don’t dare going to impose a special tax on those individuals. What you are witnessing America, is that the total destruction of our Constitution and framework that our founding fathers implemented. We need Congress to stop spending money now!
